how do i know that i am a great father?

how do we measure greatness in this field?

is it measured in the sweat of my labor, measured in the tears of my tender heart?

is it measured by the way I love my wife, measured by how loosely I hold onto my dreams?

be selfless.

is it measured by the time spent with my daughters, the money spent on my daughters?

is it measured in my willingness to lead? my willingness to serve? to love? to be known?

be willing.

is it measured in the confidence I’m supposed to hold?

is it measured in intentionality?

be free.

how do I know that i am a great father?

will i ever feel like a great father?

it’s my daughters who have the scorecard.

it’s my daughter’s, daughters who have the final tally.

i want to be a great father,

but maybe I’m standing in the way.
