When You are Tired
When you are tired, learn to breathe. Allow the inhale and exhale of your breath to form a rhythm, a tempo of solitude.
When you are tired, reach out for help. Life is not meant to be lived alone; there is strength in admitting weakness.
When you are tired, don’t move too quickly. A hasty decision is not always a good decision and choices made in weariness rarely produce good results.
When you are tired, get Jesus involved. He is always inviting us in, calling us by name. “Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. I won’t lay anything too heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
When you are tired, remember: exhaustion does not last forever. This too shall pass. There will be a tomorrow that provides rest and rejuvenation, don’t give in.
When you are tired, let hope live. It is easy to encourage the fatigue, giving it the nutrients it needs to grow. Instead, water the hope deep inside of you. Let hope live.
I wrote “When You are Tired” as reminder to my forgetful self about two years ago. I said, “yes the season is difficult, yes I am tired, and yes we will make it through.” It’s funny when you look back at your life and see all that you have overcame. We are stronger than we think. What was hard for me two years ago is no longer the hard thing in my life. New mornings mean new trials, but most of all new mercy. I will always be grateful for that.
If you are tired, I hope this encourages you, if you are not tired, save this- for you may need it later.
